This month I’m excited to share some great books to add to your makerspace library. These books are particularly good for pop-up makerspaces. Put the book in a bin with the supplies needed. When it’s time for makerspace, allow students to select a bin and create their own projects!
Rubber Band Engineer
by Lance Akiyama
With instructions in this book, you can make shooters, catapults, trebuchets, rockets, and more. The materials needed are simple: paper clips, paint stirrers, popsicle sticks, rubber bands, tape, etc. The how-to in this book is accessible for kids, and the photographs make it easy to follow along. Notes and variations are scattered throughout the projects.
